She ignored her second wishcall.

For two days, a terrible ringing echoed in her mind, a cross between church bells and screeches in the night. Surely, if only she’d be spared another story of a child she couldn't truly help, she'd sleep soundly going forwards. Bells or no bells. Then, abruptly, the call stopped. Before the third day was over.

All calls are born from utmost desperation, her mentor said - and from there, even the smallest light can make a crucial difference. The girl, Tammy, was ten years old when she drowned herself in the Thames.

First lesson, harshly learned.
